Langtang is a beautiful cultural trek in the north of Kathmandu valley. The region borders Tibet and was once an important trading route. We can still see the influence in the rich local culture. The beautiful Langtang Valley was the third of the great trekking areas of Nepal – only Solu Khumbu (beneath Everest) and the Annapurna region saw more visitors. The 2015 earthquake and subsequent landslide had an enormous effect on the region, but aid and reconstruction have recently reopened this valley to trekking again. It is short and easily accessible trek full of nature and mountains and hospitality.
